It doesn't matter what business your in, type of industry or even your geographic location, it's safe to say that every business in the world wants to get better results from their marketing efforts.
When you look at Marketing basics, like there are only 3 ways to grow your business:
1) get more customers;
2) get your customers to spend more money when they buy or
3) get your customers to come back more often and refer people they know to your business.
It sounds pretty simple. Truth be told, getting your business to get significant increases (30% or more) in revenues and profits is easier said than done.
In most cases, people focus on the wrong thing(s). Statistics show us that in any company's marketing efforts that only 8-10% of those people will buy today, 20% will never buy and approximately 70% will buy sometime in the next 12 months, if you are the business they remember or are the company in front of them when they decide to buy. People buy when they want to buy, not when you want to sell to them!
Many companies, focus on that 8-10% that are buying today and disregard or completely forget the 80% that will buy in the next 12 months. Why, I don't know but it would make sense to me that one of the best ways to increase my business in the future would be to stay in front of that 80%. A great example of this is to look at many of the retail businesses. Again, it doesn't matter your type of business, your industry or even your geographic location. The retail business (in this case let's say this business is a clothing store) runs an ad with a sale and waits for the people to come into their establishment. Those that are ready to buy or have a high interest level are waited on first and those that say they are just browsing or looking the sales person normally says ok and let's them go on their merry way. Nowhere in there did the sales person say, "you know we have more specials coming up and/or we have a newsletter that has great ideas on today's styles and ways to find the best prices." That simple interaction and collecting do basic data is all that was needed, yet it never happened. This is one of thousands of different examples I can give you of a business focusing on the 8-10% and forgetting the 70% (which by the way has the ability to increase revenues by at least 100% in a relatively short period of time).
Now the great news is that to stay in front of the 70% has never been easier. Today's technologies have made it quick and easy to not only stay in front of that 70%, but now you can also track your results with detailed analytics to drill down and constantly improve your results.
